Do children need a full-price ticket? Are there family package tickets available?

Everything about Children’s Tickets for the 2026 World Cup

The 2026 World Cup organizing committee has introduced a groundbreaking ticketing model that prioritizes family attendance. Unlike previous tournaments where children often paid near-adult rates, the new scheme includes dedicated Children’s Tickets for specific match categories. Generally, children aged 3 to 12 years qualify for reduced-price tickets, while infants under 2 may enter for free on a parent’s lap (subject to stadium regulations). For knockout rounds and finals, Children’s Tickets remain available but with limited inventory. Every ticket purchase requires fan identification, but families can apply for group seating to ensure adjacent spots.

According to FIFA’s initial announcement, the price reduction for Children’s Tickets ranges between 30% and 55% compared to standard adult category 4 or 3 tickets. For example, a group-stage match adult ticket in Category 3 costs approximately $175, while the corresponding Children’s Ticket in the same section can be as low as $85. Parents must note that Children’s Tickets are only applicable when purchased together with at least one full-paying adult ticket per transaction. This policy prevents misuse and ensures families receive genuine savings. Additionally, accessibility tickets for children with disabilities are offered at even greater discounts, with companion seats provided free of charge.

Family package tickets: are they officially available?

Yes – the 2026 World Cup features official “Family Package Tickets” designed to simplify group bookings. These packages bundle multiple match tickets, often including 2 adults and 2 children (or 1 adult + 2 children) at a consolidated price. The family packages guarantee seats together in dedicated family zones, which are alcohol-free sectors with kid-friendly facilities, changing tables, and lower noise levels. Families can also opt for venue-specific packages that include pre-match activities like mascot meet-and-greets. The FIFA Family Package initiative covers the opening match, group stage double-headers, and even some round-of-16 games. Prices for family packages start from $360 for a group-stage double-header (2 adults + 2 children). Compared to buying individual tickets, these packages deliver up to 22% extra savings and eliminate the risk of scattered seats.

Beyond the official packages, many authorized resellers (only via FIFA’s official hospitality program) offer curated family experiences: hotel bundles, transport, and dedicated fan zones. However, the standard public sale includes family-friendly quad packs. To purchase a family package, simply select “family & friends” during the ticketing application phase. Priority access will be given to registered fans who apply early. The 2026 hosts – 16 cities across North America – will also operate local family ticket initiatives for residents. Families traveling internationally should check the specific stadium’s child entry policy, but overall, Children’s Tickets and family bundles are central to FIFA’s commitment to inclusivity.

Age verification & documentation

When purchasing Children’s Tickets, valid proof of age (passport or birth certificate) must be presented at the stadium entrance. The age cut-off is based on the child’s age on the match day. For example, if a child turns 13 two days before the match, they no longer qualify for children’s pricing. Families are advised to carry digital copies of identification to avoid delays. The system allows name changes for children’s tickets up to 14 days before the event, giving flexibility if travel plans shift.

Price comparison: Children’s Tickets vs adult rates

To illustrate the value, below is a realistic breakdown per match round (prices in USD). Please note that dynamic pricing may apply based on demand, but these benchmarks derive from the official pricing framework published in March 2026:

As shown, Children’s Tickets provide exceptional discounts, especially in the group stage and early knockout rounds. However, due to high demand, families are urged to register for the FIFA ticketing portal sales window which opens in Q3 2025. Approximately 1.2 million Children’s Tickets will be allocated across the 104 matches, ensuring broad availability. The family package tickets combine two children’s seats with two adult seats in premium locations, often near the family section with souvenir giveaways.

Traveling with kids: stadium tips & child-friendly zones

All 2026 World Cup stadiums have implemented family-first initiatives. Each venue features designated “Kid Corners” equipped with charging stations, play areas, and sensory rooms for neurodivergent children. Children’s Tickets holders can access these zones without additional fees. Moreover, family package purchasers receive a dedicated concierge service that assists with stroller storage, early entry, and quiet rest areas. Security protocols allow small bags with essential baby supplies, and nursing mothers are provided with private lactation rooms. The commitment to accessibility makes the 2026 World Cup one of the most child-friendly sporting events in history.

Parents also appreciate the “Family Safe Standing” sections in certain venues (like MetLife Stadium and SoFi Stadium), where children can enjoy a more relaxed viewing experience. All family package tickets include a digital welcome kit with activity sheets and interactive stadium maps. For families holding Children’s Tickets, there are additional discounts on official merchandise when purchased on-site.

Common questions: do children need a full-price ticket?

No – children do NOT need a full-price ticket if you purchase Children’s Tickets or family packages. The only scenario where a child requires a full-price adult ticket is if the specific match category has exhausted its children’s allocation, or if the child is aged 13 or older on match day. Teenagers aged 13–17 qualify for “youth” pricing, which is roughly 20% less than adult rates but separate from Children’s Tickets (under-12 bracket). Always double-check the exact age policy when buying. For group-stage matches, the availability of Children’s Tickets is abundant, but for semifinals and final, families may need to act fast.

Key dates and how to secure Children’s Tickets for 2026 World Cup

The ticketing sales phases begin in October 2025, with the first-come-first-served “Family Window” reserved exclusively for those purchasing family packages or Children’s Tickets. To guarantee the best seats, register your FIFA account early. During the application phase, you can indicate the number of children (3–12 years) and select your preferred matches. The system will automatically display available Children’s Tickets inventory. Payment plans are offered to spread the cost over 4 installments, reducing the upfront financial burden. Verified families may also be eligible for subsidized tickets via the “Football for All” program, which distributes thousands of free Children’s Tickets to local communities across host cities.

Because the tournament spans three nations (USA, Canada, Mexico), border crossing regulations are simplified for families – visa waivers and combined travel documents ensure smooth journeys. Each stadium’s official website provides detailed family guides, and FIFA has launched a dedicated helpline (no direct contact listed here) for ticket modifications. The final deadline to purchase guaranteed Children’s Tickets is March 31, 2026, though limited quantities may remain at the box office.

Financial planning: maximizing value with family packages

Beyond the obvious savings, family packages often include added benefits like priority parking near stadium entrances, meal vouchers for children, and exclusive access to family warm-up zones where kids can interact with former players. When you compare buying separate tickets for each member, the family package can reduce total costs by hundreds of dollars. A typical family of four attending three group matches would pay roughly $1,120 via separate Children’s Tickets (2 adults + 2 children) versus $1,560 if purchasing four adult tickets. The family package price for the same matches could be $990, offering an extra 12% discount due to bundling.

Additionally, some host cities offer transportation cards bundled with family ticket purchases – free public transit for children under 12 on match days. This synergy makes attending the 2026 World Cup not only memorable but also budget-friendly. Several tourism boards have created “Family Fan Trails” that combine match tickets with museum entries and cultural experiences, all accessible via the official FIFA mobile app.

Fraud prevention & official channels

Only purchase Children’s Tickets and family packages through FIFA.com/tickets or authorized national associations. Third-party resellers often overcharge and do not guarantee legitimate children’s discounts. Since Children’s Tickets are personalized, resale platforms may invalidate them. FIFA’s official ticket exchange will be open in early 2026, allowing fans to resell at face value. Ensure your booking confirmation clearly states “child” for each young attendee. If any discrepancy occurs, the stadium ticket resolution center will assist, but it’s safer to verify before traveling.

To conclude, the 2026 World Cup sets a new standard for family inclusion. With Children’s Tickets offering deep discounts, family package tickets simplifying logistics, and stadiums fully equipped for young fans, there’s never been a better time to introduce your children to the beautiful game. Plan early, use official sales windows, and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime football experience across North America.
